In medieval Spain, Adriana was suspected of being a ‘Marrano.’ The Grand Inquisitor would be forced to interrogate a Jewess who had converted, but was suspected of secretly continuing to practice Judaism. This is the story of Adriana, her degrading incarceration, torture and confession at the hands of the Inquisitor and his twisted minions, who becomes a woman broken in mind and spirit.
