Torture Story… Maria, a widow was arrested for her political ties and subjected to interrogation by “Major Meatball,” a notorious interrogator for the regime. Her 18-year-old son, Lucio, was bound in a chair to watch as Mama was interrogated in their quest to make her confess to being a “communist.”

Parilla
The Parrilla was a torture employed during interrogations in Argentina, Brazil and Chile in the later part of the 20th century. Victims were stripped, gagged and strapped face-up on a bare metal bed frame (the parrilla or “grill”) to receive electric shocks. Electricity came from a standard wall socket fed through a transformer with a control box which allowed the shocks to be precisely adjusted.
The primary electrode was a wet sponge or copper scrubbing pad inserted into the woman’s vagina. The second electrode was a pencil thin copper rod. The current flowed between the two electrodes. The copper rod, being smaller, made the shock more intense. Two men operated the set-up. The first man administered the shocks – the second man turned the current up-or-down. The first man used the rod on the woman’s breasts, nipples, labia, clitoris, urethra and anus which had been wet with a water/salt solution to intensify the shock.
They alternated between quick teasing shocks, rubbing the part slowly or just holding it in place. Sometimes they inserted the rod into the victim’s vagina or rectum. A doctor was usually present to oversee the torture. The two men worked the victim over until, degraded, the victim confessed or betrayed comrades.
