Coronavirus affecting pornA new phenomena

The coronavirus is affecting porn searches. Since the whole world seems to be on quarantine/lockdown due to the coronavirus, I’ve seen how this has affected the sales of my hardcore BDSM stories. I write taboo sex stories which are sold as eBooks. They are easy and inexpensive to buy and can be read discretely.  Since March 21st when various Governors in the 50 states in the USA began to implement “lockdown”, I have seen my sales rises by more than 10%.

Apparently, I’m not alone. Others in the business of providing erotic entertainment online have reported sales increases too. Compared to an average day, traffic on Pornhub was up 6.4 percent in the United States — the website’s largest market.

What’s going on?

This leading online porn site says the sales boost is due to the coronavirus.  It has affected porn searches due to so many people having to stay at home. A lot of folks are suffering from “cabin fever.” Even psychologists have weighed on the phenomena. Are people people using sex as a coping mechanism for dealing with their fear of disease and death? Not being a psychologist,I do not know if this is what is going on, but it seems that none of us have seen anything like this in our life time. People try all sorts of things when they are under pressure. If this continues for the foreseeable future, we may see all sorts of behavioral changes, including a new willingness to work from home.

However, I already knew from having sold over 20,000 eBooks during the last seven years that many people… ordinary, average people all over the world, enjoy porn. But, I am sad to say that the recent sales increase is due to a global pandemic. It is just a sad situation in general. Let’s all stay safe out there…
